June 16, 2009

An artist puts the finishing touches to a piece of Graffiti art on the ‘Icon Wall’ at the Royal Albert Hall on June 15, 2009 in London, England. The exhibition documents the history of the world famous venue with artwork specially commisioned by the Royal Albert Hall painted on the walls of the loading bay at the venue. Many of the artists who have played their over the 138 year history are depicted, including Jimmy Hendrix, Pavarotti, The Beatles and the Killers. The free exhibition opens for one day only on the 22 June.

Another… brilliant… yeah, you know…

Another brilliant Uniqlo project

June 10, 2009

After the clock, map and of course, their beautiful data visualisation work the’ve now got a calendar.

Working on the simple mechanic of showing tilt shift video of Japanese scenerey which, on interaction, is replaced with tiles showing items of clothing match the colour of the space replaced (crap explananation – visual below).

As always, you can always go through to buy. Another exmaple of Uniqlo’s ability of subverting navigation and usability for an eccomerce site that replicates the real world feeling of rummaging through rails of clothes and having an item catch your eye. And it’s on brand. Simple with a twist.

Why not being nice to other creatives all around the world sharing your artwork?

Society6 is a lovely tool that, other than providing loads of inspiration, is also a nice way of displaying your work!

Further to Magnus’ post earlier this month, here are two business cards that probably DO NOT BELONG IN THE ROLLODEX.

I love these buttons! they are made by lacanica who happen to be friends of Tonje Sandberg who wore one today.

Danny Rocca, I know these are not really called buttons, could you enlighten me with the correct term?

Cheers

100 kilo website

January 18, 2009

We had a couple of days to spare in the office after new years so we decided to do something a bit different during those days. I have wanted to literally build a website for a while so this seemed like the perfect occasion to have a bit of fun and get down with some DIY. So we got a little money at our disposal, made some sketches and started going about getting hold of all the needed material. We bought a lot of plywood some 40 meters of wooden beams, a birds house for the home icon, a folder for the portfolio icon, spray cans, paint, wallpaper and a lots of other stuff, the video tells the rest of the story.

The music in the video is made by tsjekkoslovakia a band by some of my colleagues.

The footage was shot by the one and only, Karina Lavik

The company is M&L.

Check the live site:

wierd and wonderful site

January 5, 2009

Sometimes you just dont need to know what a site is about or what its selling…

biobak

This is a toally immersive experience with great interaction, great illustration work and a totally nonsensical user journey. Somewhat confusing to begin with but great great fun.

That said, if anyone can tell me what the f**k its all about… answers on a postcard please?

Guerilla campaign from Milano

January 4, 2009

Happy new years guys!!

I’ve been in the Internet free snowy mountains of Norway over Christmas and new-years so I totally missed out on this email from Tonnaso:

“I hope you will be interested in some interesting public Christmas greetings I found around Milan, in Italy.
More than 3000 speech bubbles saying “Peace” were placed on top of the city’s posters: now from the mouth of every single testimonial comes one single message. The promotions don’t scream “cheap” or “new” anymore – “peace” became the key word this Christmas.
“…”
The objective is to shift the focus of visual communication to a less commercial one.”

Final Art

December 19, 2008

finalartwork

A quite interesting navigation system from Final Art.They are a new media agency based in Poznan, Poland, my cousin lives there. I think I quite like the arrow key navigation. How ever when companies have these kind of flash sites I always find it easier to google them to find out who they are, especially when their contact page says “if you want to contact us click the green cross”.

Yours on a happy Friday!

Hobnox

December 18, 2008

hobnox

Apparently this was on flash on the beach, but I was not allowed to go due to DLKW company policies, so i only discovered it now. It is great, even I managed to create some sounds that did not make me gag my coffee when played back to me (which is usually the case when any sound I made is played back to me). Other than that it can be described as the following:

“Hobnox is an on-line entertainment and publishing platform, a network for curatives and their fans. We unite broadcast-quality web media with cutting edge community-enabling technology. With Hobnox, an international media corporation is born. Created for artist by artists, Hobnox combines the best of current web entertainment with the newest technological possibilities of the Internet to create fascinating opportunities for both artists and audiences.”

(its way more fun than what that phrase makes it sound like).

Linky to the music maker thingy.

Linky to a page where you can read more about it and watch some videos.

Yours, happy he is not a copywriter
