World’s biggest screen

by

The UAE development company Tameer Holding is going to build the largest LED screen in the world, projected by Daktronics – the world’s leading digital billboard manufacturer.
Project’s name is Podium.

The screen will cover the facade of a 33 floor high building in Dubailand (Dubai’s entertainement zone), and will be visible from a distance of 1.5 kilometers.

The design of the screen will allow the flow of natural light into the building. How cool is that?

Hmmm, it is pretty cool from a technological point of view – but I guess it will be used for advertising only and that sucks.

Vera, I think it’s a concept discussion: is every broadcasted information advertising? I think it is. There’s always somebody behind any broadcasted information, from an independent eco-documentary to a luminous TDK billboard on Piccadilly Circus.

Whatever it is going to be displayed on this screen, it will be propaganda, as it is in any screen…

…Or just flashing madness like in Las Vegas. I think It would be hard to get funding for a screen like that dedicated to visual art. But maybe once a year you get something that is not advertising on there.

Some advertising is really nice tho!
